South Georgia Institute Joins the New South Athletic Conference

Norman Park, GA — June 5th, 2025 — South Georgia Institute (SGI) proudly announces its official membership in the New South Athletic Conference (NSAC), marking a major milestone in the growth and visibility of its athletic program. This new affiliation positions SGI alongside a competitive roster of institutions and reinforces the Institute’s commitment to building a thriving, high-impact athletic department.

“We are honored to be welcomed into the New South Athletic Conference,” said Dalice Payton, SGI’s Athletic Director. “This move elevates our student-athletes’ opportunities to compete, grow, and represent South Georgia Institute on a larger stage. It reflects the hard work of our coaching staff and the dedication of our athletes.”

The New South Athletic Conference is known for its dedication to academic excellence, athletic competitiveness, and character development. SGI’s entry into the conference signals a strategic step forward in expanding the reach and quality of its athletics across all programs, including football, basketball, track and field, baseball, and more.

Dr. Patricia Burns, Chancellor and Academic Dean of South Georgia Institute, emphasized the broader implications of the move: “Joining the NSAC is about more than athletics—it’s about opportunity.
